Congratulated on honour

Shetland’s Lord Lieutenant Lindsay Tulloch has appointed Lerwick Port Authority Chief Executive, Captain Calum Grains, as a Deputy Lieutenant.

Port Authority Chair, John Henderson, said: “On behalf of my fellow Board members and our staff, I congratulate Calum on his appointment which recognises his contribution to the port and Shetland to date and future potential in his new role.”

Calum said the position was “a real honour and privilege.”

A Shetlander, Captain Grains was a harbour pilot at Lerwick before taking his Master ticket, rejoining the Authority in 2003. Promoted Harbourmaster in 2007, he became Deputy Chief Executive in 2014 and Chief Executive in 2018.

As a Deputy Lieutenant, Calum will support the Lord Lieutenant in his civic duties, alongside a Vice Lieutenant and three Deputies.
