Vessels heading for Lerwick from Fredrikstad in Norway next year will also visit a number of Shetland harbours in a Cruise in Company event, as part of the Tall Ships Races.
Calling at guest harbours Scalloway, on the mainland west coast, Cullivoe on Yell and Baltasound and Uyeasound on Unst, will enable ship’s crews of the international fleet to explore Shetland.
Ten ports in all form part of the friendly, non-competitive Cruise in Company leg, including Stromness Orkney and Aberdeen in Scotland and four in Norway between 18-26 July. Guest harbours are now working on a programme of events and activities.
The Tall Ships Races will return to Lerwick, a host port for the third time, between 26-29 July.
Captain Calum Grains, Lerwick Port Authority Chief Executive, said: “Participating tall ships can be assured of a warm and enthusiastic welcome at the guest harbours along the route, which is a great opportunity for communities there to join in with the Tall Ships event and the crews to experience the islands many attractions.”
